Spanish Teacher
By Maria F. Ulate
Being a teacher has changed my point of view toward life. I've learned from my daily experiences in the classroom. Everyday is something new to add to my knowledge. When you are a teacher you deal with many lifes depending on you everyday. You have the responsability of teaching them and touch their lives. You can make a difference in every child's life. How? When you understand why they behave today bad, why they were quiet today, why they get mad... there are many situations, moods, silences to understand. And that is when you became not just a teacher if not a mom, a father, a friend, a psychology we are not just a teacher we are what the child want us to be. It takes me a long time to understand that and still I am learning it. You can see how you could make a difference in children's life. So, I am not perfect, because I am human, but I am learning to understand my students. I have made mistakes which I am learning from. But, being a teacher encourage myself to keep on trying to help and make a difference in at least one kid. Sometimes, we as a teacher feel tired and sometimes we feel that maybe all the hard work if for nothing. But, when you see at least one or two students learning that is your reward of all you do everyday. If at least we can touch one child's life and make a difference that is the reason for being teachers.
